Frequently asked questions
Is Pinloom free?
Yes. Part search and the harness workspace are free to use today, with no account and no install.
Where does the data come from?
From the manufacturers' own catalogs, drawings, product pages and qualified product lists. Every relationship links to its document and page. How the data is checked.
Can I rely on it for ordering or production?
Use it to find the right parts fast, then confirm against the manufacturer's current documentation before ordering or production. Each relationship is labelled with how it is known, so you can see what still needs a check.
How is this different from a distributor search?
A distributor lists parts one at a time. Pinloom gives you the full mating set for a connector, meaning the mate, the crimp contacts and the tools, each with its source, and then draws the harness with the pins assigned.
What does the harness workspace do?
You pick connectors and the signals each one carries. Pinloom assigns pins by rule, keeps pairs on adjacent pins, chooses gauges from the contacts, routes the wires and checks the result. You can edit everything by hand afterwards.
Where are my harness projects saved, and who can see them?
Projects are saved in your own browser and are not sent to our server. A share link carries the project inside the link itself, so only people you send it to can open it.
Can I download the drawing?
Not yet. Downloading the drawing as PDF and PNG is planned. Part pages can already be printed from the browser.
A part I need is missing. What can I do?
Search for it anyway and use “Request this part” on the results page. The most requested series are added first.
I found a mistake. How do I report it?
Use “Report a problem” on the part page. You can add your email address if you want to hear when it is fixed.
